Size your cold room in under a minute. Enter the room dimensions, the temperature you need and what you will store — the calculator estimates the room volume, recommended PU panel thickness and refrigeration capacity, using the same rules of thumb our engineers start from. Send the result to us and we confirm the final sizing and send an exact quotation.
Fill in the room size on the left and press Calculate. Your estimated volume, panel thickness, refrigeration capacity and door type will appear here.
The colder the room, the thicker the PU panel must be to keep heat out and electricity bills down: 75–100 mm for chillers, 100 mm down to 0 °C, 120 mm for freezers and 150 mm for blast freezing.
Estimated from room volume and temperature band (roughly 90–140 W/m³ for chillers, 160–260 W/m³ for freezers), adjusted upward for small rooms, plus the pull-down load of any warm daily intake. The range already includes a rough allowance for heat infiltration and door openings.
Small rooms use a hinged door. Once a room is large enough for trolleys or a forklift (about 60 m³ or 6 m long), a sliding door is the practical choice.
